More information about Energy Cups

Energy Cups are a fantastic and highly convenient product. They are drinking cups (that can be "closed" when travelling), and personal water-filters, all-in-one. Energy Cups are a great way to drink plenty of cool filtered water, especially during hot sunny weather.

Most people who are informed about good health and well-being are aware of the benefits of drinking sufficient clean fresh water. Despite this, many studies suggest that few of us drink the ideal amount of water each day. Could Energy Cups encourage your family to drink more water inexpensively ?

We've added this page to answer a few questions to help customers enjoy the maximum benefit from Energy Cup.

Energy Cup - Personal Water Filter

Some Questions & Answers:

* Does Energy Cup purify water?

NO. This is a combined drinking cup and water filter, including a central reservoir large enough to be filled with ice-cubes to keep the water cool for a limited period of time. It is ONLY intended for use with drinking quality water, such as from a standard UK domestic kitchen tap.
* What are the basic instructions for preparation, use and storage ?

PREPARATION: Energy Cup is supplied with the first filter pre-installed and ready to use. Remove the Energy Cup from the box, then also from its protective clear plastic bag. Keep the box if it may be useful for storage or transport later. Keep the leaflet describing how to change the filter - as you may wish to refer to it later.

USE: Unscrew the top (blue cap) and pour clean cool drinking water into the centre - not the edges - of the Energy Cup. If you enjoy drinking chilled water, fill the central reservoir with ice cubes made from drinking water, then top-up with more water. Do not replace the blue cap immediately because the water level will fall as some of the water passes through the filter and into the outer section of the Energy Cup. As water passes through the filter, the level of the water in the outer section rises and the level of water in the central reservoir falls. (If you stop filling the Energy Cup before the maximum possible amount of water has been added then let the Energy Cup stand, water will continue to pass through the filter until the water levels in the inner- and outer- sections are the same.) To add the maximum amount of water, fill the inner section first, then allow some of the water to filter though to the outer section by waiting for about a minute, then continue pouring water into the central resevoir of the Energy Cup and allowing the water level in the two sections to equalise until the level is high in both the inner- and outer- sections (that is, until the Energy Cup is almost full). After adding as much ice and water as required, replace the blue cap on the top of Energy Cup by screwing it gently back into place. To avoid spillage when moving Energy Cup, check that the black sliding lid is closed before carrying it. To drink from the Energy Cup open the top by sliding back the black lid. Close the sliding black lid again after each use. Refill or top-up the ice/water in Energy Cup by removing the blue screw-top lid and following the same procedure as above.

STORAGE: If you do not intend to use Energy Cup for an extended period of time, remove the filter, wash Energy Cup with ordinary washing-up liquid and warm water, rinse, dry, and store. When it's time to use again, wash and rinse the unit first if there is a possibility of any dust having collected in it (e.g. in a cupboard), then attach a new filter, and use as new.
* What is the size (dimensions) of the Energy Cup ?

The approximate dimensions of the cup itself are: Maximum diameter (at the top - see picture): 95mm. Maximum Height: 190 mm. Each Energy Cup is supplied in a box (also shown above), approx. size: 95mm x 95mm x 193 mm. The capacity of Energy Cup is approx. 600 cc.
* Is it necessary to change the filter ?

Yes. The filter should be changed at regular intervals, according to use (see below for further details).
* How easy is it to change the filters ?

It is very easy to change the filter module on an Energy Cup. Simply screw the old filter off, then screw a new one on.
* Where can replacement filters be obtained from, and how much do they cost ?

Replacement filters for Energy Cup are available from this website (www.ivyrose.co.uk). The price depends on how many filters are ordered at the same time. Current prices (as of May 2008) are £2.00 for 3 filters, or £3.20 for 6 filters.
* How frequently must the filter be changed ?

The filter module should be changed regularly, the frequency of changes depending on use. Filter modules are intended to filter not more than 500 full Energy Cups of clean drinking water. (This is equivalent to approximately 16 full Energy Cups per day for one month, or 11 full Energy Cups per day for six weeks.) Also change the filter if the unit has been standing, especially at warm temperatures, for a prolonged period of time - as it is intended to actively filter water, rather than to fester in stagnating water.

If in doubt, change the filter. In any case, change the filter at least every two months.
* Can Energy Cup be used to filter any other liquid (apart from water) ?

(We really have received this question!) Energy Cup is designed and intended for use to filter standard clean drinking/tap water ONLY. Use of this product to filter any other liquid is not recommended - this applies to all other liquids, including soft drinks such as diluted orange cordials or similar. If Energy Cup is mistakenly filled with another drink, remove and discard the filter, wash the Energy Cup, rinse it, dry the Energy Cup, and replace the filter.

* If it is possible that any water filtered by the Energy Cup was not of drinking water standard, remove the filter IMMEDIATELY and thoroughly wash all parts of the Energy Cup. When dry, re-assemble using a NEW filter. *

Energy Cup is not a medical product. It should never be used to treat water that is not reliably supplied as safe drinking water.
